Communities unite to honor, support, and strengthen local Armed Services families throughout November
The YMCA of the Inland Northwest invites the community to join in celebrating Veteran and Military Family Appreciation Month this November. A Message of Appreciation
“This November, we pause to honor our veterans, active-duty service members, National Guard, Reservists—and the families who stand beside them,” said Kaylan Sisco, President and CEO, YMCA of the Inland Northwest. “Your service has safeguarded the freedoms and opportunities that shape our nation, and your leadership continues to strengthen our neighborhoods, workplaces, and communities every day.”
National Partnership and Background
The YMCA of the Inland Northwest is one of 75 YMCAs nationwide selected to host Mobile Vet Center visits through a partnership between YMCA of the USA and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Military Family Month was first established by the Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) and recognized by First Lady Nancy Reagan in 1993. In 2009, President Barack Obama reaffirmed the tradition by proclaiming November as Military Family Month, urging all Americans “to honor military families through private actions and public service for the tremendous contributions they make in the support of our service members and our Nation.”
