Pool Access Age Requirements

Children ages 4 & under, as well as older children who are unable to complete a swim test, MUST be accompanied IN THE WATER by an adult (18+) within arms reach at all times.

  • Children ages 5 & 6 who can pass a swim test MUST be supervised IN THE POOL AREA by an adult (18+).
  • Children ages 7 and older may swim without an adult in the pool area upon successful completion of the swim test.
  • Valley Y water slide: Children must be at least 48″ tall. Parents may not accompany a child on the slide.
  • North Y Lazy River: Children must be at least 48″ tall or pass a swim test to enter the Lazy River without an adult.

Private & Semi-Private Swim Lessons:

Private lessons are a great option for swimmers looking to catch up or get ahead. These lessons give you individualized attention to help improve or master swimming skills. You set the agenda by working with the instructor to determine goals. The curriculum is customized to meet these goals.

Adult/Teen Swim Lessons 

Lessons will cover the Swim Basics:

  • In Water Acclimation (Level 1), students are introduced to the pool and develop safe water habits in a fun and encouraging environment. Students become comfortable with underwater exploration and learn to safely exit a body of water in the event they fall in.
  • In Water Movement (Level 2), students focus on body position and control, forward movement, directional change, and basic self-rescue skills. This stage also reinforces how to safely exit a body of water in the event of falling in.
  • In Water Stamina (Level 3), students focus on body position and control, forward movement, directional change, and basic self-rescue skills. This stage also reinforces how to safely exit a body of water in the event of falling in.

Lazy River – North YMCA 

  • Children must be at least 48″ tall or pass a swim test to enter the Lazy River without an adult.

  • Children must be at least 48″ tall. Parents may not accompany a child on the slide.

Kids Wading Pool Play Structure – Central YMCA

  • Children must be at least 36″ tall to use the wading pool play structure slide.
