Our program works closely with many departments at EWU to help sponsor books, read to children and provide a wide range of activities at the children’s center. The volunteers in our classrooms are often students from EWU who come to learn more about our program and working with children.

Staff

Our staff members are trained and have experience working in the Early Childhood Education field. Staff are warm and welcoming with a desire to provide a safe and nurturing environment for all young children. Our staff demonstrates developmentally appropriate practices in their daily work with the children. They provide a balance of structured, free choice, and gross motor play activities.

Our two infant classrooms individualize the room for each specific child.
The maximum group size in each room is 8 infants with a 1:4 ratio of staff to infants.

  • Toddler classrooms are for children 12 months to 3 years.
  • Classrooms focus on routines and learning about the world around them.
  • The maximum group size is 14 toddlers with a 1:7 ratio of staff to toddlers.
  • The walker classroom is for children 2 – 3 years.
  • This classroom focuses on positive peer interaction and hands-on learning activities.
  • The maximum group size is 14 toddlers with a 1:7 ratio of staff to toddlers.
  • USDA approved Breakfast, Lunch, and Snack are provided daily for children 12 months and up.

Preschool classrooms are for children 3-5 years.
These children are ready for a larger group and peer experiences.
They participate in an array of activates from art to science.
The maximum group size is 17 Preschoolers with a 1:10 ratio of staff to preschoolers.

Pre-K classroom is for children 4-6 years of age.
This group focuses on becoming part of the community and getting ready for kindergarten.
The maximum group size is 20 Preschoolers with a 1:10 ratio of staff to preschoolers.

  • USDA approved Breakfast, Lunch, and Snack are provided daily for children 12 months and up.

  • ECEAP School Day Programming: Mon – Thu 8am -3pm  |  Fri 8am – Noon
  • ECEAP Part Day Programming: Mon – Thu 8 – 11am or Noon – 3pm

In ECEAP your child will:

  • Learning about more community resources

You may be eligible for ECEAP if your child is 3-4 years old on or before August 31 of this year and:

  • Your child has a diagnosed delay or disability
  • Your child is or has been in foster or kindship care
  • Your family has been involved with CPS
  • You have lost your job or been homeless in the past 12 months
  • Your family falls at or below 50% of the State Median Income. View Income Chart

Our before and after school program drops off and picks up children from our local bus stop. Our stop serves the Betz and Salnave communities. In our after-school program, the children work on completing homework and positive interactions with their peers. The maximum group size is 15 School-Age children with a ratio of 1:15.
