Spokane Valley YMCA Hosts Courageous Kids Climbing
The Spokane Valley Y proudly hosted Courageous Kids Climbing, a remarkable group of rock climbers from Central Idaho who volunteer their time to teach children with special needs how to climb. On Saturday, September 14, 13 children participated in this inspiring outreach event, getting the chance to scale our rock wall. It was a heartwarming day filled with encouragement, growth, and unforgettable memories for the children and their families. Courageous Kids has helped over 2300 kids with disabilities over 10 years become more confident and enjoy being a kid. The program is operated through donations, grants and volunteers and it is an amazing thing to witness this firsthand. At this year’s event we were joined by 6 Spokane Police Officers, including the Chief of Police. They helped with the event and offereed a friendly presence for the kids to meet officers in uniform, ask questions and see the police cars up close! One of the officers stepped in to belay the climbers, too!
