South Spokane YMCA Incident Update

On Friday, June 21, the South YMCA experienced an incident that impacted several members and staff. The unfortunate event shook this community. The two individuals that were injured are doing well and recovering at home.

In an effort to keep everyone informed, I would like to share measures that the YMCA and the landlord are taking, to ensure the safety of our members and guests. We have temporarily placed orange cones in the front facing spaces to restrict parking until we can receive the materials to install concrete barriers which we anticipate to be early to mid-July.

The YMCA is in the process of following up with members that were on site during the incident. The studio is currently closed, and classes are canceled until further notice. I want to express the YMCA’s sympathy for everyone that was impacted, and we appreciate the community’s support during this time.
