Staff Spotlight – Megan
Megan is a Wellness Coach and group exercise instructor at the Valley Y. She joined the YMCA staff last summer as an intern with the wellness team, helping teach fit boot camps and group exercise classes and since becoming paid staff has added to her duties with one-on-one personal training. Megan graduated from WSU Spokane with a degree in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology. She says she loves being able to do a little of everything around the branch. She enjoys seeing all sorts of different people in their wellness journey come in to work out, “I love seeing people come in and it not being a chore, but something they want to do and seeing that progression in them.” She says her passion lies in helping people getting on the right track with their body so they can prevent health problems later in their life.
Originally from Newman Lake, Megan enjoys spending her free time hiking and running around the Inland Northwest. She also loves spending the occasional morning sleeping in curled up with a good book, a cup of coffee, and her cat Lilly.
Why she chose to work at the Y? Megan says the choice was easy, “it’s the atmosphere, it’s warm and welcoming. You build relationships with people here and that’s what’s important.” People are the most important part of what the Y does, and we are lucky to have a person as caring as Megan in our YMCA family. Give her a shout next time you find yourself at the Valley Y.
