South Spokane YMCA Closed Due to Building Damage

Car accident closes South YMCA branch

[SPOKANE/WA, June 21, 2019] – At approximately 10:45am a car accident resulted in damage to the South Spokane YMCA studio located at 2921 E 57th. At this time two individuals have been transported to the hospital. The branch is closed and will remain so until structural assessments and repairs can be made.

Our first concern is for the safety of our members and we are extending our thoughts and best wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured. Additionally, those witnessing this accident, whether staff and other members present, will receive care as needed. An investigation is underway and all parties are participating. Steve Tammaro, President/CEO, YMCA of the Inland Northwest, says, “We are saddened by this traumatic event at our South Y and are hopeful our injured members will be alright. We will do everything in our power to help them through this process of healing. Conversations are already underway with the building owner to increase safety measures.”
