Immediate Updates to YMCA Programs and Classes

Indications are that communities will see increases in the cases of the virus over the coming days and weeks. The YMCA is a community-focused organization committed to Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. It is our goal to provide as much reasonable protection for our members, staff and community as possible. We have learned that reducing close contact, activities which bring people within six (6) feet of each other, helps to reduce transmission.

Therefore, while facing this unprecedented circumstance, we are taking the following actions for programs and activities that directly involve close contact with either program/class participants and/or instructors.

Group Contacts (Classes and Activities) will be Postponed or Cancelled effective Saturday morning March 14th – Friday, March 27th. For the current list of program/class/facility impacts please see below. Staff running these programs/activities will continue to be paid per their regular schedule during this window.

Don’t forget that best practices for hygiene will help with transmission reduction. Don’t forget to WASH YOUR HANDS.

We will continue to run our Childcare programs and our facilities remain open.

The YMCA as an organization is built on the foundation of supporting and strengthening the communities we serve. Through this challenge we will continue to do so. In times of uncertainty or crisis, the YMCA has steadfastly remained the place for health in all aspects: physical, social, emotional, spiritual. We realize these changes are a disruption to routines and the communities within our walls. During these unsettling days, I want to reassure you that as a group we are doing everything we can to continually assess the situation and make decisions based on the greatest potential for positive outcomes. While this is outside what any of us could have imagined, together we can navigate this challenge because we are an organization that is Determined, Hopeful, Welcoming, Genuine and Nurturing.

It is because of all of you that we can say that we are an amazing place. We couldn’t be US without YOU. I wish you and your families all the best in health through these next few weeks. Any questions you may have can be shared with your branch leadership teams or program director. We will do our very best to continue to keep you informed.
