YMCA Healthy Aging Community Café
The YMCA Healthy Aging Community Cafés bring together those who are 55+ to engage in meaningful learning and sharing around topics relevant to individuals moving toward and through their golden years. The goal is to build spirit, mind, and body health such that all may thrive with greater purpose, connection, and well-being.
What is a Healthy Aging Community Café?
There will be a brief (15-20 min) topical introduction with ideas to frame the discussion and consider things in new ways. This will be followed by small group facilitated discussions where you will have the opportunity to share experiences and perspectives or simply listen to your peers as you feel comfortable. Following the small group discussions, we will come back together for an empowering full group wrap-up with relevant resource sharing and a look ahead to the next café.
All Community Cafés are FREE and hosted on Zoom. If you are new to Zoom and would like some assistance getting started, please note that on your registration form.

Wish you had more time to pause and reflect? Learn how to use the cracks and crevices of your busy life to reflect on small decisions, big goals, and everything in-between.

Habits for a More Insightful Life
Come explore how the following seven practices provide insight and direction towards a life of greater contentment: simplify, give, meditate, follow the Wise, accept mindfulness as a Way of Life, embrace change, and live in the Moment. What practice may enrich your life today?

Why is it so Hard to Make Change?
Learn what research has discovered about people who have successfully made a positive change or transition. Understanding the process will give insight into how to identify what you want to change and how to support others or yourself in staying motivated towards change.

Got Grit?
Ever wonder why some folks seem to plow through no matter what the adversity? They’ve got grit. Come find out if grit is something you need to be born with or something you can learn.

Focus on Balance, Posture, and Gait to Prevent Falls
Learn about fall prevention strategies using occupational therapist-designed Activator poles and home-practice balance exercises. There will be some listening, some watching and some doing (if you wish). If you plan to practice, make sure to have some clear space around you and something sturdy to hold onto.

Fall Fun
